The developers of Pidgin removed the ability to resize the conversation entry box, in Pidgin version 2.4.0 and above. I find the new tiny entry box, along with its automatic resizing behaviour, to be incredibly annoying, and so did many other people.
Fortunately, Artemy Kapitula wrote a plugin that returns this functionality to the program. I have now packaged the plugin so that it can be compiled and installed without being part of the Pidgin source code, because the Pidgin developers have indicated that they will not include it.
It is likely that the new plugin will be included in a future release of the Guifications Pidgin Plugin Pack. However, this is too late for Ubuntu Hardy users, and it's not yet available in Debian lenny or sid, so I have also debianised it.
Source tarball | pidgin-plugin-manualsize-0.5a.tar.gz |
Debian lenny/sid package | pidgin-plugin-manualsize_0.5a-1_i386.deb |
Ubuntu hardy package | pidgin-plugin-manualsize_0.5a-1_i386.deb |
Debian/Ubuntu source package |
pidgin-plugin-manualsize_0.5a-1.dsc pidgin-plugin-manualsize_0.5a-1.diff.gz pidgin-plugin-manualsize_0.5a.orig.tar.gz |
To build a package from source, download the three files above, and then:
dpkg-source -x pidgin-plugin-manualsize_0.5a-1.dsc cd pidgin-plugin-manualsize-0.5a dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot
